We avidly follow GT Park bred horses and regular spellers and get such a thrill out of seeing them succeed on the track.
Valiant Bomb
Sometimes things just turn out and that’s certainly the case for Valiant Bomb who won at Goulburn, a good horse’s track. Coming straight to GT Park after his purchase at the 2023 Classic Sale, he was agisted, trained and prepped by us to be re-offered at the 2023 Inglis R2R sale where he was passed in. That has proved fortuitus for his owners, Mr P H Lam and Mr H K Hon who kept him in our care where he thrived each pre-training preparation. Presented on Sunday at Goulburn, he jumped well and by the 1200m mark, led easily, holding all at bay winning comfortably by 2.75 lengths in the very slick time of 1.22.29
We look forward to what’s next for his talented gelding and congratulate and thank his owners and their representative, Keith Lam, for their faith in our programme.
Our broodmare band is to the fore again with the super speedy Justifying making a striking debut in the Class 4 Fu Tai Hcp (1000m) in Hong Kong. The gelding, by Justify, is out of Montana Flight, a mare bred by GT Park. She currently has a weanling colt by Written By and is safely in foal to Jacquinot.
Her yearling colt by Portland Sky will be offered at sale shortly. Stay tuned for details!
Northern Beast as a yearling
The GT Park team were delighted to see Northern Beast score another win at Happy Valley overnight. Bred by GT Park and offered through the 2021 Inglis Classic Sale, the gelding by Maurice out of Tiffany’s Diamond, was purchased by the astute bloodstock agent John Foote for clients of the David Hall stable. The honest and consistent gelding is now the winner of four races and six placings and it certainly looks like more to come.
What a way to celebrate Lunar New Year! Congratulations to all connections!
Loyal supporters of GT Park, Derek Tam and Peter Coffey, have had success with yet another horse who returned from Hong Kong to race in Australia. Now eight, the flashy grey, All Hunky Dory, proved he hasn’t lost his zest for racing with a second at Tamworth and two wins at Taree in his last three starts. We are sure there is more in store!
UPDATE - We were right, there was more in store! It’s now three in a row for All Hunky Dory who added a win at Port Macquarie on the 3rd March.
Well done Adam Duggan and the team. Congratulations to Derek and Peter.
Shot Out took the next step in her current preparation with an excellent win at Nowra on Sunday 12th January. Settling beautifully for Robbie Downey, she comfortably managed the heavy 8 conditions, powering to the post to win by 1.3 lengths in the good time of 1.10.19 Purchased by GT Park at the 2024 Magic Millions National Broodmare sale for long term clients, she has more than recouped her purchase price and we are sure she is set for more.
Our congratulations to her owner Mr Tang and his representative, Keith Lam.
The Canterbury night meeting on Friday 17th was filled with excitement for the farm when the first runner out of Nakeeta Jane, scored on his debut. Gatekeeper, a 3yo gelding by Justify, had been given time to mature and learn his craft, which paid off in spades. Ridden perfectly by James McDonald, Gatekeeper bravely took the run off the fence at the 100m mark and went to the line strongly winning by half a length. Coolmore purchased Nakeeta Jane from us at the end of her racing career and has gone on to have two colts by Wootton Bassett. In 2024 she was again sent to Justify, this time in Kentucky and is now on her way home, safely in foal to southern hemisphere time.
We look forward to following Gatekeeper’s career and congratulate all connections on his excellent first victory.
Soo Gold as a yearling
We saw yet another GT Park graduate win on debut this week with Soo Gold scoring by 1.5 lengths in the Super Maiden at Newcastle on Tuesday 21st. The gelding by Sooboog out of Hidden Numbers has been a resident since 2023. He was originally prepped by us for a Breeze Up sale but a change of plan had him return to the farm to be soundly educated and pre-trained before heading to the Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou stable. Under their training, he won two trials heading into his first race, so expectations were high and he did not disappoint! A smart ride from a wide barrier, Josh Parr took Soo Gold straight to the lead and held off all challenges with ease, winning by 1.5 lengths.
Are honours in store for our graduate? We’re watching with interest to see where he heads next.
